How To Use The Master Map
The Master Map is your guide all the trails described on this site. It is our intent for you to explore areas by region of interest and exploring hikes categorized by length (1, 3 or 7 day hikes). Note the selector in the top right hand corner of the map. You can select the length of hike you are interested in.
If you zoom out you’ll see a circled number representing the number of hikes in this general area. As you zoom in individual trails will be broken out. The trail route will be marked. Additionally, the trail will be accompanied with a trail marker. When you click on the marker you’ll get basic information about the trail and a link to the trail page. The individual trail page is where all the details preside. Please click on that to enjoy detail maps, photos, blogs and a lot of useful information about that trail.
Categorizing hikes by 1, 3 and 7 day duration is an estimate. When it comes down to it, these categories answer the following questions “Did I take a week off work?” or “Can this hike be accomplished in an extended weekend?”. The day hikes are self explanatory. The 3-day hike may have taken 4 days. Likewise the 7-day hike may have taken 6 or 8 days. There will be details in the trail write-up on all the logistics.
